Dear Friends and Family,
We hope each of you are enjoying the last of 2024 and have a restful and connected holiday. As we gather the stories of impact over the past year with The Ben Lucas Foundation, we are so encouraged by the transformative work that your donations have allowed. We know there are many worthy causes to support with end-of-year charitable giving, and we remain so grateful for any way in which you’re able to partner with us again.
This year, we have raised $31,000 to support urgent, life-saving intervention. As you consider your charitable giving plan, we hope you’ll consider The Ben Lucas Foundation before the end of the year to help meet these ongoing needs.
Your contribution is more than just a donation. In many cases, it’s someone’s last chance to right the ship so they can be the person they long to be in recovery. With your help and their choice to recover, you are fortifying families to stay whole and impacting generations to change the narrative around addiction.
As with years past, we have continued our partnership with ARCHway Institute, Tulip Hill Recovery, and Came to Believe Recovery. Below are stories of impact over the past year from each organization as well as urgent financial needs to help current clients remain in recovery, specifically at Tulip Hill in Nashville, TN.
ARCHway Institute – Through ARCHway’s HOPE fund, we continue to support their scholarships to Healing Transitions in Raleigh, NC, whose mission is to offer innovative, peer-based, recovery services to homeless, uninsured and underserved individuals with alcoholism and other drug addictions.
We have also committed to match $10,000 in donations raised during their Holiday HOPE campaign, which funds recovery as well as relapse prevention education to support those in recovery and their family members.
Came to Believe Recovery – The BLF funded scholarships for those suffering from homelessness and addiction to attend retreats in Portland and San Bernardino Valley that provide shelter, food, and support for substance abuse recovery.
Tulip Hill Recovery – Tulip Hill has had some exciting growth in 2024 by acquiring other programs in both Tennessee and Kentucky in order to expand its reach and better serve individuals in need. Donations from The Ben Lucas Foundation continue to help provide the best services possible for their clients who now have expanded access with this growth. Below are a few stories of personal impact from their clients and urgent needs to keep them in recovery:
- 36 year old male from GA who was admitted into Tulip Hill Recovery with a full scholarship for 30 days. He has been using for years with a couple attempts of sobriety that have failed. He is addicted to opiates and fentanyl with 2 prior overdoses and is desperately wanting to turn his life around. He would like to do the full 90-day stay, meaning his remaining 60 days would be $16,400 total
- 45 year old female that was admitted on 11/16/24. She has done very well with us thus far and been committed to her sobriety. She has had some serious traumas in her life (ranging from the age of 15 to 30 and that have come from physical, sexual, and verbal abuse) that she has never addressed and it is processing these for the first time and how these have driven her addiction and behaviors. She has a real opportunity for long term sobriety and happiness by continuing to work on these issues and her mental health in our program. Her deductible and coinsurance reset on January 1, 2025 is $7,500. She does not have any support or financial means to cover these funds.
- We have many other client needs ranging from deductibles and out of pocket maxes on insurance, COBRA assistance for clients whose insurance has terminated, and potential travel costs for clients to get to treatment, and others. The two cases above are specific to those individuals’ stories and life but not isolated in the nature of what we see on a regular basis.
Thank you for all the ways in which you have supported this mission in honor of Ben. If you are able, your tax-deductible donation will help champion others whose critical access and opportunity for recovery is through the evidence-based partners we support.
With gratitude,
The Ben Lucas Foundation
