2021 Annual letter

  • by

Dear Friends and Family,

We hope each of you remain healthy and safe this holiday season. Though it’s been a collectively difficult year for many, we’re thankful for the ways in which we’ve been able to connect with each of you and the continued blessing you all are to those whose lives are changed through the Ben Lucas Foundation. As we approach the ten-year anniversary of Ben’s death, we hold in tension the reality of a decade gone and the years of impact and healing for many. His legacy remains strong.

Since last year, we have provided $24,100 in scholarships thanks to your generous support. $5,000 was given to The ARCHWay Institute as part of their Hope Fund, providing scholarships to individuals for recovery treatment. $19,100 was granted to Tulip Hill Recovery, funding insurance co-pays for 5 clients’ recovery treatment. Brandon, Bynum, David, and Will were able to have calls or meet with each of these individuals to hear their stories and provide encouragement for their recovery – it’s unbelievable to know what they’ve been through….. and hear how thankful they are.

We hope you’re encouraged by the following updates from The ARCHway Institute and Tulip Hill Recovery. In this season particularly, we are thankful for your partnership in Ben’s legacy.

With gratitude,

The Ben Lucas Foundation

The ARCHway Institute

  • Year-to-date, ARCHway has provided 48 grants to recovery-oriented systems of care (i.e. treatment, recovery housing, recovery community organizations, and prevention efforts) in order to increase access to treatment and recovery resources for those in need of financial support. Those 48 grants total $42,000 to increase one’s chances of a thriving recovery from substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • In addition, we have received just under 100 requests for assistance through ARCHway’s Advocates for HOPE Program, which includes people thriving in recovery and caregivers who have been impacted by their loved one’s substance use disorders. These peers can offer caring and compassionate peer-to-peer support and guidance around the resources that are available to the individuals and families who reach out to ARCHway looking for help. About half of these requests were individuals or family members looking for financial resources while the other half were seeking help, hope, and support.

Tulip Hill by Ben Jones, Founder:

  • In 2021 Tulip Hill Recovery opened our second location in Jackson, TN. I lived in Jackson, TN for one year and am proud we were able to bring Tulip Hill’s services to West Tennessee. Tulip Hill Recovery of Jackson is a mirror to our Murfreesboro, TN location. The purpose of our second location is to be able to serve more individuals without losing the integrity of our programming by growing to large in one location. Below is a link to the press release for the opening of our Jackson location. Press Release
  • Tulip Hill Recovery is now CARF accredited, which stands for Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.  When a service or program is CARF accredited, it means it has undergone an in-depth review of its services and demonstrated substantial conformance to the CARF standards during the on-site survey. The service or program has demonstrated its commitment to delivering quality services that focus on the client’s specific strengths, abilities, needs and preferences. The onsite survey lasts up to three days and is a deep dive into every aspect of the facility.
  • The CARF accreditation has allowed us to begin going in-network with different insurance companies and be a provider for more individuals. The process of going in-network with insurance companies can be timely but we hope to add more in-network facilities in 2022.
